Guest Speaker Funding for Social Sciences Instructors

Funding for guest speakers, trainers, facilitators in Winter 2022 undergraduate courses.

Feb 16, 2022

As instructors create lesson plans for the coming weeks, keep in mind that funds are available through Careers & Experiential Education (C&EE) for experiential, in-course activities including guest speakers, trainers or facilitators.

A guest speaker, trainer or facilitator may fit into any of the following categories that compliment undergraduate learning in the Faculty of Social Sciences:

  • community-engaged learning (experiences involving partners external to the Faculty)
  • career development (aimed at career exploration, planning or preparation)
  • hands-on learning (experiences focused on practical techniques, tools and application)
  • skill development (experiences fostering transferable skills beyond core academic skills)
  • work-integrated learning (experiences in a workplace or simulated workplace)

How to apply
Submit your application using this simplified web form. A formal proposal is not required.

Review the Guide for Payments before submitting your application to ensure you are aware of how payments are to be made to guest speakers and other outside supports you may request. You may wish to inform partners in advance of tax implications and whether their Social Insurance Number (SIN) is needed.

Applications will be accepted any time up until Wednesday, April 13, 2022 for activities in the Winter 2022 term.
